Finish Museum Project & Begin Chapter 16

We will be wrapping up the museum project on Monday, September 31st. The students will be receiving review materials so that they may review the chapter for the Chapter 15 test that shall be starting with Red Block on Wednesday. Blue Block will not test until Thursday out of fairness and adequate time to study.

Museum Project - Christianity

Brief Description:

• Students will be assessed of knowledge of unit through the creation of a museum      exhibit
• Vocab quiz

Instructional Methods

Day 1:

• Distribute       Download museumtaskonlevel.doc to students      and discuss directions. Include the      Download museumrubric.doc and Download collaborationrubric.doc that will be used for final assessments.
• Divide students into groups (mixed ability, free choice, etc). Based on class size, there will be more than 1 group per type of religion.
• Allow students time to divide tasks, brainstorm ideas, etc.
• Give vocab quiz and allow students to begin research on their exhibit piece when completed with quiz.
• Have resources in class or computer access available for students to research      topic

Day 2:

• Students continue with research portion of assignment

Day 3:

• Students will assemble exhibit pieces to prepare for museum

This is a collaboration between all 3 pods. Each pod has been given a religion and when the museum project is completed they shall be on display more than likely in the media center.

Progress Reports

Today we are sending home Progress Reports. As some of you will notice some of your children are struggling in my class. I have given them the opportunity to turn in any and all missing work for partial credit. The grades will be added today by the end of the day and should be available in iParent over the next day or so.

I have found that most of my students are struggling because of their failure to complete the 2 warm-up questions given daily at the beginning of class and then collected weekly. This one grade because it occurs on such a regular interval can hurt them as mush as it can help them. Please encourage your child to complete these tasks in a timely fashion and be responsible in turning them in weekly.

Covering the world

Book Covers are still required for the new textbooks. Whenever there is a notebook check I will be checking to see who's book has been covered. I will then reward them at that time with an extra credit 100%. Book Covers do NOT have to be fancy store bought fabric, they may be as simple as a paper bag; as long as they an non-adhesive.

Notebook Check

We will be having a notebook Check Wednesday and Thursday. I will be looking for Chapter 1 & 2 assignments to be complete as well as the maps that we did last week in class. I will be taking each of these assignments as a classwork grade.
