today in class we took notes on section 1 and part of section 2 in chapter 22(powerpoint notes)

we will have a map test on thursday(1st,5th,2nd) and friday(3rd) STUDY!!!!!STUDY!!!!

you will need to know all the countries name from bangladesh down and their capitals

The children have been responsible for taking their own notes over the last two days while I have been out. I modeled the first 2 sections with power point notes and then they need to complete the last two.
To insure that the students have been completing their assigned tasks and have read the material I will be issuing beginning with 1st period Thursday an open notes quiz. The children should have also completed pg. 636 & 637 Terms and Names, Review Questions, and Standards based Assessment which totals to 23 questions. Yes they are required to write the questions. This will also be taken for a grade.

today in class we reviewed Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism ( did worksheets on each religion)

**** we will have a textbook check on thursday and friday! make sure you have your book in class on those days

Homework- finish religion worksheets if you did not finish them in class

Swinging through India

This week we are quickly covering Indian History, governement, and economy. We will also be revisiting the ideas covered in Asian Reiligions as this is a theme that continues for the next couple of chapters.

Asian Religions worksheets to be completed in all classes. It will be taken for a grade.

Picture Pages & chapter 20 workbooks should have been turned in by now. Anything turned in after today is an automatic 50 as it is more than 5 days late. However, a 50 is still better than a ZERO. I am currectly grading the last set of books today and should hav e all grades posted by Wednesday.

Begin Chapter 21 Vocabulary.
We will be picking up this week with the British invasion and occupation of India.

On a different note: I would like to WELCOME MS. JENNINGS to my 2nd Block. We are happy to have her on board. YEA!

Conference Week

Report Cards will be received during Conference Week. Any Report Cards not Picked up during the Week of the 22nd - the 28th will be mailed the following week. The children have received their conference forms and should have brought them home by now to be signed. In most cases you will be conferencing with your child's homeroom teacher unless otherwise specified.

African Conflict

As we have been studying Africa over the last couple of months we have been gradually approaching the age of conflict and civil unrest. I will be briefly addressing with your children the dire situations found in such areas as Rwanda, Congo, Darfur, and Somolia. I will be suggesting to them that they ask you for further information or that you assist them in researching it further if they would like to learn more about the injustices that are occuring in this region. I feel that it is necessary to have a parent explain some of these difficult concepts as there may only be a limited amount of material that you wish to reveal to them a this time. Furthermore, I encourage you to become enlightened on the topic so that your children will feel more comfortable talking to you.
